Information about Robins class

PE  will be on  Monday and Friday every other week and Wednesday every week. Please make sure that your child has shorts, t-shirt and appropriate footwear for this (plimsolls/ trainers). Please keep your child’s PE kit in school during the week as we may do extra PE sessions.

Outdoor Clothing/

Forest School information

Year 1 will continue to have lots of opportunities to use the school grounds and local area as an important part of their learning. Please make sure that your child has wellies in school so that we can be outside in all weathers, and please bring appropriate warm, waterproof clothing too.

If you would like your child to have a snack every day, please send them to school with a piece of fruit or healthy snack. It would help us to store the fruit if it were brought in a named plastic container.

Remember that the children also have access to the snack bar at break time, items are 30p and 50p. Please bring this in a named purse or envelope and hand to an adult in the classroom.

Water Bottles

Please make sure your child has a named water bottle in class (this must only contain water).

Please help your child fill their bottle with fresh water each day – we do try and empty the bottles at the end of the day to ensure the children are not drinking water past its best.

Children read individually and as part of a guided reading session on different days during the week. Please make sure your child brings their book bag to school every day with their reading diary and school reading book – this will help us ensure we are able to read with your child on their allocated day. Thank you.

If your child needs to change their reading book please put it with their reading diary in the designated  basket. The children will have the opportunity to change their book at some point during the day.

Library books – children are also welcome to borrow a book from the class library. Please sign these books out in the appropriate folder. Thank you.

Please make sure all items of clothing are named. We are much more likely to be able to return a lost piece of clothing if it is named!

Home Learning

Home learning activities will be sent out on Friday. These will be maths activities which can be practised at home. This can be simply done in your every day lives; for example counting the stairs as you go up them and counting backwards as you go down them! No formal recording of the maths is necessary however to show you have done this with your child they each have a 3 birds to colour in within their reading diaries.

We also expect all children to read at least 3 times a week please.
