Since taking on the role as Forest School Leader, Becki Huth has overseen the expansion of the outdoor curriculum, which now means that every child at Cutteslowe is entitled to a Forest School session every week! Mrs Huth has also conceptualised and lead many projects that have helped create a unique outdoor experience for all our children. They include a wildlife pond, a mud kitchen and mud play area, the creation of a small holding to include pygmy goats and ducks, an outdoor classroom and the beginnings of a Forest Garden.
Last but not least, the Forest School allotment at Cutteslowe Park Allotments is enabling the children to learn first hand how to grow our daily food and engage in a rounded experience.
Through Becki's initiative the Forest School now benefits from the growing support and friendship of local businesses, charities and Parks departments.
Forest School is attracting an increasing number of parent volunteers without whom its upkeep and expansion would not be possible. Outdoor classes and small group activities at Forest School are greatly enhanced when parents join in. Parents are key to supporting this unique and vital resource at Cutteslowe School.
